Trail Blazers Officially Sign Yang Hansen, No. 16 Overall Pick In NBA Draft

TRAIL BLAZERS SIGN YANG HANSEN

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 1, 2025) – The Portland Trail Blazers have signed center Yang Hansen (pronunciation: Yahng Hahn-sun), it was announced today by General Manager Joe Cronin. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Yang was acquired on draft night by the Trail Blazers with the 16th overall selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, along with a 2028 first-round pick (via Orlando), a 2027 second-round pick (via Atlanta) and a 2028 second-round pick (via Sacramento) from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for the draft rights to Cedric Coward, who Portland selected with the No. 11 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Standing at 7-1, 253 pounds, Yang spent the past two seasons playing for the Qingdao Eagles’ senior team in China’s top professional league (CBA), coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 16.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.6 blocks in 32.8 minutes per game across 45 contests.

Yang was named CBA Rising Star of the Year in each of his two seasons with Qingdao, as well as the 2023-24 CBA Defensive Player of the Year and an All-CBA Domestic Players First Team selection and CBA All-Star for both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

The Zibo, Shandong, China, native also competed in the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup for China—averaging 12.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists and an event-high 5.0 blocks per game.
