Beavers Rally In 9th, Walk-Off In 10th To Beat Florida State In Game One Of Super Regional, 5-4

Despite trailing 4-1 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Oregon State baseball rallied to force extras and beat Florida State in ten innings, 5-4, taking Game One of the best-of-three Super Regional in Corvallis on Friday.

OSU is one win away from returning to Omaha for the College World Series next week.

The walk-off hit came from AJ Singer with one out in the bottom of the tenth inning with the bases loaded and gave Oregon State it’s first and only lead of the game.

The Beavers trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the ninth when Wilson Weber led off the inning with a double. The Beavs eventually loaded the bases with two outs to send Jacob Kreig to the plate. A wild pitch forced home a run to make it 4-2 and put the tying run in scoring position. Krieg, down to his last strike, laced a single to left field that scored two more to tie the game. Easton Talt nearly connected for a walk-off homer the next batter, but his fly ball was caught on the warning track.

After a clean top of the tenth, OSU’s Aiva Arquette doubled to lead off the bottom half. The Beavs loaded the bases with no outs, had an out forced at the plate, but won it on Singer’s knock over the head of a drawn-in center fielder for FSU.

Oregon State will be up against Florida State ace Jamie Arnold on Saturday night in Game Two. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. from Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. Should FSU win, Game Three would be Sunday at a time to be determined.
