The Portland Trail Blazers were on the clock with the No. 11 overall pick and were announced to have taken Cedric Coward out of Washington State.

But ESPN’s Shams Charania reported shortly thereafter that the Blazers were not making that selection after all.

Portland made a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies that sent Coward to Memphis while Portland took the Grizzlies spot at No. 16 overall.

Additionally, Portland adds a first round pick in the 2028 draft. The pick will come via Orlando through Memphis. The Blazers will also have a pair of second round picks added in the deal.

Portland now picks at No. 16 overall in the first round.
