Ducks Golfer Kiara Romero Makes History At U.S. Women’s Open

Romero Makes History At U.S. Women’s Open

ERIN, Wis. – Oregon women’s golf sophomore Kiara Romero put together a historic performance in the final round of the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open on Sunday, carding a stellar 5-under 67 at Erin Hills Golf Course.

The first two-time first-team all-American in program history, Romero recorded the lowest final round by an amateur in U.S. Women’s Open history by making six birdies and just one bogey.

Romero made the cut after shooting 1-over par (73-72) through the first two rounds. She struggled in round three with a 12-over 84 but bounced back in a big way by tying for the second-lowest round of the entire tournament on Sunday.

Playing with Oregon head coach Derek Radley as her caddie, Romero was even through her first three holes on Sunday after a par-birdie-bogey start. She was mistake-free the rest of the way, making a birdie at No. 4 en route to shooting 5 under across her final 15 holes.

Romero tied 45th overall for the weekend, finishing as the fourth-highest amateur in the field.

The 2025 Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Year, Romero led the Ducks to the Big Ten Championship and a second straight trip to the national semifinals at the NCAA Championships.
