Oregon Rises To No. 6, Oregon State Falls To No. 7 After Ducks Sweep Beavers In Eugene

Oregon baseball pulled off an impressive sweep over Oregon State in a highly-anticipated showdown of top-15 ranked teams in the country this weekend at PK Park.
The weekend began with Oregon ranked No. 13 in the country per D1Baseball.com and Oregon State ranked No. 3 in the same poll, although Oregon lost a midweek game to the Portland Pilots a few days prior.
Oregon won Friday’s opener 4-2 thanks to seven gutsy innings from starting pitcher Grayson Grinsell, who is now 7-1 on the season.
Saturday, with another sellout crowd migrating into PK Park following the football program’s spring game, the Ducks dominated the Beavers 13-1 to clinch the series in statement fashion. Oregon homered four times in the game. The 4, 278 in attendance was the largest regular-season crowd in PK Park history.
Not satisfied, Oregon completed the rivalry series sweep with a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon. It was Oregon’s first-ever sweep of a top-three ranked opponent.
The Ducks-Beavs series was just one data point in what ended up being a chaotic week in the rankings of college baseball, and Oregon leapfrogs Oregon State in the rankings as part of it. The Ducks are now No. 6 and Oregon State is No. 7 per D1Baseball.com.
The two rivals will meet a fourth game in a row on Tuesday, this time for a single game in Corvallis at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Oregon improves to 30-12 overall, Oregon State falls to 32-10 overall.
