Payton Pritchard could not be stopped Wednesday in Boston as the West Linn native and former Oregon Ducks star poured in a career-high 43 points including 10 made three-pointers helping the Celtics beat the Blazers 128-118.
Pritchard went 10-16 from downtown. He added 10 rebounds — 4 on the offensive glass — and 5 assists while shooting 14-20 overall from the floor. He did it all coming off the bench, playing 43 minutes. The Celtics were without Jayson Tatum who was out with a shoulder injury.
The four-time state champion in high school at West Linn, Pritchard starred four seasons collegiately at Oregon. Fellow state of Oregonian great Danny Ainge, then the Celtics top executive, helped get Pritchard to Boston with the No. 26 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft.
Pritchard was already the odds-on betting favorite to win NBA Sixth Man of the Year for 2024-25, his fifth season in the NBA.
