The dream season continued for Oregon Ducks football on Saturday night with their first Big Ten title in their first Big Ten season.
The No. 1 Ducks held off a strong fight from No. 3 Penn State at Lucas Oil Stadium to win 45-37.
Playing their first season in the Big Ten Conference, Oregon went a perfect 8-0 in regular season conference play and put an exclamation point on their ownership of the history-laden league with a win in the conference championship game. The Ducks are 13-0 overall for the first time in program history.
Oregon remained No. 1 in the final edition of the College Football Playoff rankings released Sunday morning and are the top overall seed in the playoff, the first 12-team edition of the format. They are heading to the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day to play the winner of No. 8 seed Ohio State and No. 9 seed Tennessee. The Buckeyes host the Volunteers in a first-round playoff game on Sat. Dec. 21st in Columbus.
