Oregon Ducks Sweep Washington, Stay No. 5; Oregon State Up To No. 7 With Series Win At Iowa

With a week left in regular season baseball, both the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers are firm top ten programs in the country per D1Baseball.com’s rankings.
Oregon stands pat at No. 5 in the poll after going 5-0 last week including a three-game sweep over rival Washington. The Ducks have won seven in a row. They are 38-13 overall, 19-8 in Big Ten competition, two games back of conference-leading Iowa, and one game behind second-place UCLA.
Oregon visits Iowa for a three-game series Thursday through Saturday with a chance to claim the Big Ten regular season crown. The Big Ten Tournament is the following week, May 20-25, in Omaha, Neb.
Oregon State is fresh off a series with the Hawkeyes themselves. Over three games in Des Moines at the home of the Iowa Cubs, the Beavers earned victories of 9-6 and 5-1 before finishing the series with a 6-6 tie in a game that was called after ten innings in consideration of OSU’s travel curfews.
OSU is 37-12-1 overall, playing as an independent. Their regular season concludes this week with four home games beginning Tuesday vs. Portland and Thursday through Saturday vs. Long Beach State.
Selection Monday in college baseball reveals the 64-team NCAA Tournament field as well as the eight national seeds that are guaranteed to host regional and Super regional series should their programs advance. The top 16 programs host regionals of four to begin the tournament. The Selection Show is on Memorial Day, 9 a.m., on Mon. 26th on ESPN.
