Chip Kelly Leaves Ohio State, Heads Back To The NFL As Offensive Coordinator Of Las Vegas Raiders

Chip Kelly is headed back to the NFL.
The former Oregon Ducks head coach is coming off a national championship with Ohio State, where he called plays for his good friend Ryan Day, helping the Buckeyes win the first title of the expanded 12-team playoff.
Now, Kelly is a one-and-done coordinator in Columbus.
Multiple reports over the weekend confirmed Kelly is headed back to the NFL to become the offensive coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kelly will work under new Raiders head coach Pete Carroll. Kelly and Carroll coached against each other in 2009 when Kelly was in his first season as head coach at Oregon and Carroll was in his last at USC. They also went head-to-head in the NFC West division during Kelly’s lone season as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers in 2016. Carroll’s Seahawks also won the 2014 meeting in Philadelphia during Kelly’s second season as head coach of the Eagles.
Kelly will reportedly make on average $6 Million a season as Raiders offensive coordinator, while he was slated to make $2.1 Million at Ohio State next season, according to Albert Breer of MMQB.
Las Vegas has the No. 6 overall pick in the draft and could be targeting their quarterback of the future.
