Head Coach Mitch Canham Talks Upcoming Oregon State Baseball Season On 750 The Game

Oregon State baseball is poised once again to make some national noise this season.
Ranked seventh by D1Baseball and ninth by Baseball America among other preseason polls, the Beavers have put together a strong 2025 schedule even without the benefit of conference affiliation.
Head coach Mitch Canham talked all things Beaver baseball with John Canzano (Afternoons 3-6 p.m. on 750 The GAME) on Wednesday.
“Any day now,” Canham opened with a laugh, admitting his excitement for the season.
“I don’t think there is such a thing as ‘shutting it off’,” he said of the offseason. “That’s one thing I talk to [legendary Beavers coach Pat Casey] about. We don’t have a ton of hobbies, just because we don’t have time for them. It’s our God, our family, and Beaver baseball.”
Canham said it was a collective effort between himself, his coaching staff, the athletic department, and others for putting together OSU’s 2025 baseball schedule following the dissolution of the traditional Pac-12 Conference.
“Obviously from our end, wanting to play the best competition available,” he said. “We had the opportunity to reach out to teams all across the country. I know this year we have twenty home games, and everyone was hoping for a lot more, as were we, but at the same time, what a great opportunity for our guys to learn how to go out and compete on the road.”
Oregon State opens the season with the annual trip to Surprise, Ariz. beginning Feb. 14th against Xavier. Their early-season schedule continues on to Texas for high-profile matchups in Round Rock and Arlington against the likes of Houston, Virginia, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Baylor, Auburn, and Ohio State.
San Diego, a 2-seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament, also makes a trip to Corvallis in early March.
“Looking at the schedule I’m like, man, this will be a great test for our guys all year long,” Canham said. “And that’s what you want. You want to play good competition. You want to set yourself up for an opportunity not only to host regionals and Super regionals, but to win it all. And that’s how our guys have embraced this schedule, this environment, with open arms.”
