SCOOT HENDERSON SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN 2025 CASTROL RISING STARS
-Bryce McGowens selected to participate with G League Rising Stars-
PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 28, 2025) – The NBA today announced that Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson has been selected to participate in the 2025 Castrol Rising Stars game.
A fourth time Rising Stars participant, Henderson has averaged 12.4 points (42.8% FG, 35.5% 3-PT, 76.7% FT), 2.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 26.6 minutes per game in 39 contests (7 starts) for the Trail Blazers during the 2024-25 season. Amongst second year players, Henderson ranks second in assists per game (5.1), fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (35.5%), seventh in points per game (12.4) and eighth in steals per game (1.1).
On Nov. 12, Henderson became the second youngest player in Trail Blazers history to reach 1,000 career points (20 years, 283 days) and has 10 career points/assists double-doubles which is five more than any other second-year player. Reaching a career-high 39 points on Jan. 14 vs. Brooklyn, Henderson became the 25th player in NBA History aged 20 years or younger to score 39 points or more in a game.
Trail Blazers two-way forward Bryce McGowens was also selected to participate in Rising Stars, to compete with the G League team. In 21 total games this season for the Rip City Remix, McGowens is averaging 27.7 points, (47.7% FG, 34.3% 3-PT, 78.4% FT), 3.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. He is the second leading scorer across the G League in the regular season, averaging 28.1 points.
The Rising Stars will feature four teams competing in a tournament of three games (including a Semifinals and Championship Round). Each game will be played to a “target score” (Semifinals to 40; Championship to 25). Three teams will consist of 7 players each, selected from a pool of 21 players by NBA assistant coaches. The 21 participating players will consist of 10 first-year players (rookies), 10 second-year players (sophomores), and one additional rookie or sophomore based on total points received. The fourth team will consist of seven G League players. The Rising Stars rosters will be determined via a draft on February 4.
