Seahawks Hire Saints Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak To Same Role

The Seahawks finished their offensive coordinator search on Sunday hiring Klint Kubiak to the role.
Kubiak was the offensive coordinator and play caller for the New Orleans Saints last season. Prior to that he was the 49ers’ pass-game coordinator in 2023, and was on the Denver Broncos staff in 2022 when he took over play calling late in the season from then-head coach Nathaniel Hackett.
Kubiak was the Vikings offensive coordinator and play caller in 2021 in what would be Mike Zimmer’s final season as head coach.
The son of former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl winning head coach Gary Kubiak, Klint takes over a Seahawks offense led by quarterback Geno Smith and a talented receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but questions on the offensive line and the futures of veterans DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Head coach Mike Macdonald parted ways with his first offensive coordinator hire, Ryan Grubb, after one season. Grubb came to the Seahawks from the collegiate ranks where he guided the Washington Huskies offense to an appearance in the national championship game in 2023.
Kubiak got the nod over other finalists for the position including Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley and Vikings assistant coach Grant Udinski.
The Seahawks also interviewed Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich, Ravens run game coordinator Travis Switzer, longtime quarterback and former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, and former Bears offensive coordinator/interim head coach Thomas Brown.
ESPN reporter Brady Henderson notes that with the offensive coordinator role filled, Seattle’s next priority is working out an extension for Smith who is 34-year-old and entering the final year of his contract.
