Per multiple reports, the Portland Timbers are set to trade longtime midfielder Eryk Williamson to Charlotte FC. In return, Portland will receive approximately $100,000 in General Allocation Money with further incentive add-ons.
Williamson came up in the DC United academy before joining the Timbers in 2018, making 112 appearances for the club.
After suffering multiple knee injuries, Williamson bounced back to feature in 32 games last season with the Timbers. He scored a goal in his first game back from injury, Portland’s first goal of the season, in a 4-1 season-opening trouncing of Colorado in February 2024.
After 7 seasons in Portland, Eryk Williamson heads back to the east coast.
One of the most resilient Timbers, he battled back from 2 ACL tears. He’ll join former teammates Bill Tuiloma and David Bingham plus coach Miles Joseph.
Best of luck in Charlotte to Eryk. #RCTID https://t.co/SNpp0fAACK
