Oregon State Opens WCC Play With Win Over Portland, 89-79

It was the first game in a brand new conference for the Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers opened up their West Coast Conference era with a win over in-state rivals Portland, 89-79.
With the win the Beavers move to 11-3 on the season. Junior, Michael Rataj, scored 28 points on 12-15 shooting. While Freshman, Austin Rapp of Portland, continued his hot play as of late scoring 22 points and hitting five three pointers. Rapp has averaged 18.6 points per game over his last five games and is averaging 14.4 on the season. The Pilots drop to 0-2 in the conference and Oregon State moves to 1-0.
Next up for the Pilots is a tough one in Spokane against Gonzaga on January 2 while the Beavers travel to Los Angeles to take on Loyola Marymount on January 2.
