Jake Dickert Leaving Washington State To Take Wake Forest Head Coaching Job

Jake Dickert is leaving Washington State to become the new head coach at Wake Forest.

Dickert was about to finish his third full season as head coach at Washington State. The Cougars play in the Holiday Bowl against Syracuse on Dec. 27th. WSU just saw star quarterback John Mateer enter the transfer portal on Tuesday.

Dickert took over as interim head coach for Nick Rolovich midway through the 2021 season and was named head coach following the season. He went 23-20 overall at WSU.

Wake Forest chose Dickert to replace former head coach Dave Clawson who resigned on Sunday after eleven seasons leading the program.

The Athletic’s Ralph Russo and Bruce Feldman had the first report, and the move has since been confirmed by Wake Forest.
