Trail Blazers Season Begins With 139-104 Loss To Curry, Warriors

Tied after the opening quarter, the Portland Trail Blazers trailed by twelve at halftime before being left behind for good by Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors in the regular season opener, 139-104 at Moda Center.
The Blazers trailed by as many as 37 points in the second half.
Scoot Henderson led the team with 22 points off the bench.
Curry had 17 points, 9 assists and 10 rebounds with 2 steals. He moved past Clyde Drexler into 38th all-time in career assists. Buddy Hield had a team-high 22 points off the bench for Golden State.
The Blazers were without Shaedon Sharpe, Matisse Thybulle, and Robert Williams III with injury. Golden State was playing their first game without Klay Thompson on the team following Klay’s free-agency signing with Dallas.
Terry Stotts, longtime former Blazers head coach, enjoyed the win on the sideline as a Golden State assistant coach to Steve Kerr.
The Blazers host CJ McCollum and the New Orleans Pelicans for consecutive games on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. The Pelicans are 1-0 after a home win over Chicago 123-111 where McCollum had 23 points including a 5-for-11 night from three.
Following the games with New Orleans, Portland visits Sacramento on Monday to start a stretch of six of seven games away from home.
